How long will it take for me to get better?
It all depends on your injury. At Coastal Physiotherapy, we understand that everyone is different, and because of this, we need to customise the treatment for the individual. Whether the injury is acute or chronic, the type of injury, and how well you can handle the prescribed exercises at home will all factor in to how long it will take for your injury to heal. However, in your initial treatment, your physiotherapist will go through with you a detailed explanation of your injury, and the road to health.
Can’t I achieve the same result through a chiropractor?
While we can’t speak for every medical practioner, at Coastal Physiotherapy, we use a more holistic approach, compared to some chiropractors, who may just look at the spine. With a thorough, hands-on assessment, we at Coastal Physiotherapy are able to integrate a multi-focus approach, where we treat your injuries through whole-body therapy, strengthening and enabling you to get back to health.
Do I need a referral from a doctor?
For most patients, no! While we will consult with your G.P or specialist throughout your treatment if we have any concerns, you do not need a referral to claim on your private health insurance.
If you are a Veteran’s Affairs patient, or making a WorkCover or Motor Vehicle claim, you will need a doctor’s referral. If you already have the claim number, please bring it along to your initial appointment.
Additionally, if you have been suffering from your injury for a significant period of time, you may be eligible for an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plan, through Medicare. For an EPC, you will need a doctor’s referral. We have more information on this here.
I have private health insurance, can I get a rebate?
Most private health insurance companies rebate physiotherapy services, so the answer for most is absolutely! (Check with your health fund if you are unsure).
We have a HICAPS terminal here at Coastal Physiotherapy, so if you can bring along your health insurance card, we can process it for you, and you only need to pay the gap.
Do I need to bring anything?
